Info
Ledongil (Dong-il Lee) was born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1985. After leaving university by choice, he began creating works grounded in the concept of "functional objects”. His work goes beyond mere practicality, focusing instead on exploring latent possibilities. His diverse body of work includes spaces, furniture, lighting, artworks, and sculptural pieces.
A distinctive feature of his practice is the deliberate use of raw, unprocessed materials, embracing imperfections and highlighting structural fragility. Through delicate forms, precarious states, and intentional irrationality, he reveals the symbolic purity inherent in the natural forms of materials and objects. Rejecting “image-driven concepts” that impose cause-and-effect logic on what is referred to as “design,” he prioritizes individuality and authenticity.
Ledongil Workshop aims to convey the uniqueness of individuals, favoring intrinsic expression over traditional design conventions.
